We’re really keen here at MiTek on training and support, not only for our staff but also for our customers, which is why we’re looking forward to meeting many more new industry professionals this year at one of our 31 online and face-to-face CPD seminars.

We think it’s important for people to have a good grasp of the tools and techniques available to them to help them work in the most efficient and productive ways. And in a sector which is increasingly drawing on digital design, off-site modern methods of construction and constantly-evolving software, there’s always something new to learn.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a mandatory requirement for over half a million individual members of construction professional bodies and member institutions.

The industry needs to ensure the knowledge and skills of construction professionals are maintained so they remain professional individuals and stay up to date. This could mean improving on current skills, developing them to a new level, or learning new ones that allow a professional’s job role to expand or prepare them for potential promotion.

This is why we are fully supportive of CPD initiatives and are always looking for ways of getting involved. Last year, we upskilled no less than 1200 individuals, and have a busy programme of activities planned for the remainder of this year.

Our 2021 DCE webinars comprised 45-minute seminars predominantly on Posi-Joist and Posi-Rafter, a theme we’ll continue this year on the back of popular demand. We already have 28 webinars planned for the next few months.

These on-line sessions have proved a great opportunity among architects, engineers, and specifiers alike to understand more about the advantages of Posi-Joist and how the application of our technology can help deliver happy clients, customers and end-users.

The sessions cover everything about the product, from sound, fire, and vibration to the cost of Posi-Joist and why specify them.

With changes to Covid rules, this year we’re also rolling out a new CPD initiative with RIBA, with a calendar of face-to-face events in Croydon, Cambridge and Leeds. We also hope that we’ll be able to do more face-to-face sessions with architects and house builders, with lunchtime training for their teams in their offices.

Architects and specifiers in the sector who are serious about their own professional development will of course want to add CPD points to their training records and are keen to learn about products and services that will help give them the edge over their competitors.

Our goal, however, is to not only give them the opportunity to add points to their portfolios, but also to equip them with the details about Posi-joist to demonstrate the product’s versatility and quality.  It’s a bit of cliché, but it really is a win-win situation.
