By Anthony Mitchell, Head of Business Development at MiTek Dedicated Services.

Five years ago, we set up MiTek Dedicated Services to address a simple challenge our customers were facing: how to access consistent support that could grow alongside their business.

At the time, it was a small team working closely with a handful of customers. Today, that’s a vastly different story. Dedicated Services now supports many of the UK’s major housebuilders, and wider supply chain, with a team of around 100 dedicated solely to the UK market.

For many customers, it is no longer an add-on or a nice to have. It has become a fundamental part of how they manage their workloads and maintain consistency across projects.

Seeing the service in action

I was reminded of how far Dedicated Services has come during our third annual customer visit to the Dedicated Services team in Vietnam.

This year housebuilders and timber manufacturers joined us to better understand how the service operates and how it can support their businesses.

Each year, the reaction is similar. Customers are struck by the scale of the operation and the breadth of capability within the team. There is often an assumption that Dedicated Services is primarily about drafting or timber engineering. In reality, it goes much further.

The team supports a wide range of services, including kitchen design, take-offs, Revit modelling and rendering. Seeing the team in action makes that clear in a way that presentations alone never truly show, and it often changes how customers think about what is possible for their business.

How customers are using Dedicated Services today

For many, Dedicated Services is not about replacing in-house capability and more about strengthening it in the right places.

While Dedicated Services often begins with drafting or timber engineering, many customers are now exploring how that support can extend into portfolio management, site-based activity, digital transformation and wider supply chain coordination.

Teams that began with a small number of drafters have grown into multi-disciplinary support functions, aligned closely with customers’ internal processes and long-term plans.

One of the clearest indicators that Dedicated Services is working is the loyalty of our customers. Many have worked with the service for several years and expanded their use of it as their own businesses have grown. That loyalty is built on trust, both in our people and the consistency of service as well as in MiTek’s long-term commitment to continued investment.

Five years on, Dedicated Services is an established part of how a significant number of the UK housebuilding sector and wider supply chain operates, and it continues to evolve alongside the customers it supports.
