With the recent announcement of the Samsung partnership with EcoBos at West Carclaze Garden Village, it’s an exciting time to reflect on how quickly low‑carbon living is becoming a reality here in the UK. As one of the partners on the project, with Timber Frame Homes, we’re proud to see the vision continuing to take shape.

West Carclaze is one of the country’s first large‑scale carbon net‑zero communities, with 1,500 new homes built to an EPC A standard, something achieved by only 0.3% of UK homes. These are modern, efficient homes designed to make sustainable living easier and more affordable for real families.

So what can homeowners expect for the new homes? A fabric‑first approach has shaped every part of the development. That includes:

  • Solar energy built in, supported by a 7.5 MW onsite solar farm to keep energy costs down.
  • MiTek Posi‑Joist flooring systems and engineered timber frames, helping reduce waste and enabling straightforward installation of modern heating, ventilation and smart systems.
  • High‑performance insulation and airtightness, helping maintain comfortable temperatures and healthy air quality throughout the year.
  • Samsung’s smart home ecosystem, giving residents simple, intuitive ways to manage their home and optimise energy use.

The result? Homes that work for residents, with potential savings of up to £3,498 per year through efficient design and reduced energy consumption.

The development is also transforming 550 acres of former industrial land into a mix of parkland, green spaces, walking routes, shops, cafés and a new school, complemented by the planting of half a million trees. It’s a genuine “village of gardens,” designed for both wellbeing and sustainability.

The collaboration shows what’s possible when modern construction and smart technology come together with a clear purpose. Low‑carbon, tech‑enabled living is no longer aspirational it’s being delivered at scale, right now. We’re proud to be part of a project that’s helping set a new benchmark for sustainable housing in the UK.
