New Pamir Posi Joist – Online student led:

Scope: This student led course is intended for users who are already familiar with the floor design principles, the MiTek MBA and Pamir software. Its aim is to cover in general terms all aspects associated with the usage of Posi Joist in floor, flat roof and sloping roof application with coverage of only the specific software tools required.  It is structured for self paced learning to suit both designers and estimators. Quizzes and a summary assignment upload are used to gauge knowledge, understanding and ability to use the points covered.

Delivery:

Self teach, using screen presentation materials and documentation that will be provided via a download link following enrolment.

Prerequisites:

Floor design experience – Minimum of three months’ prior hands on software based OR successfully completed the IFDS Introduction to floor design course.

AND

Pamir software experience – Minimum of three months’ prior hands OR successfully completion of  an ITPS/ITPR/ITPM Introduction to Pamir course.

Content:

  • Posi related project setup including design and material parameters
  • Apply building, floor surface and opening entry principles
  • Consider for opening framing
  • Add fully automatic and interactive floor framing zones
  • Modify framing zones using splits and direction changes
  • Add and editing manual framing
  • Modify framing zone conflicts and frame placement
  • Update opening supports
  • Change end details and interior via the build and wall options
  • Split joists at supports
  • Apply framing to openings (sacrificial), future lift shafts and corner landings
  • Create edge framing (ring beams, rim boards, packers and noggins)
  • Change the depth of the whole floor
  • Create floor cassettes and apply decking
  • Match webbing across joists using automatic and manual options
  • Manually web joists to accommodate MVHR and HVAC systems
  • Design joists and review the results
  • Modify designs to fix failures
  • Consider and apply deflection and vibration analysis principles
  • Review additional loading to meet sound and fire proofing requirements
  • Apply additional frame and layout manual loads
  • Manually add ancillary items such as strong backs, partition and restraint noggins
  • Add 3D duct objects
  • Consider Posi Joist manufacturing requirements
  • Create output
  • Consider the installation options
  • Use Posi for flat roof situations
  • Consider and calculate large roof light edge loading
  • Use Posi for sloping roof situations
  • Complete the summary assessment project
