MiTek were delighted to take part in a challenge set to Computing and Engineering students studying at the University of Huddersfield recently.

We were one of several companies who posed challenges to teams of students asking for innovative solutions to problems relevant to their industry. Our Technical Director, Richard George, set the teams the challenge of devising a system to accurately track and record factory production times of roof trusses.

The teams came up with some great concepts, making use of the latest technologies such as RFID to great effect and coming up with some brilliant ideas.

It is great to get involved with projects like this as a way of connecting with young people and students and raising the profile of our industry. It is vital that we attract young talent into the engineered timber industry to ensure that we remain at the cutting edge in a dynamic and modernising sector and MiTek are always keen to get involved in projects such as this.
