Like many companies across the UK, we set great store in the importance of local community and our social responsibility, which is why we run a ‘Hearts and Hands’ week across all our businesses around the world.

Every year over 5,000 employees in 95 countries make a difference to charitable causes in their local community, donating a combination of time, people and physical resources.

It’s become a firm fixture in the company’s annual calendar, and this year here in the UK, the team has been supporting several local causes.

For the Black Country Food Bank, we donated much-needed supplies and worked alongside their team to sort and distribute these. In Stourbridge, not far from our offices, a project at Mary Steven’s hospice, really touched the hearts of our team. Together we created Mary’s Place – a special space for the hospice to use as an outdoor classroom, pop-up shop or crafting activities area.

“The hospice staff tell us we’ve breathed new life into the area”

We’re incredibly proud to lend our hands and hearts to a project which was beyond the charity’s already stretched budget. The hospice staff tell us we’ve breathed new life into the area, and that it will be put to great use with their residents and visitors.  The hospice staff were very moved when they collected the keys and saw the results of what we’d achieved in just five days.

A big thank you to Leanne Tyler and Anthony Mitchell at MiTek for making the project happen, and to the rest of the team for your hard work.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s projects – whatever they may be. And in the meantime, we’ll continue to run other smaller activities like cake bakes, to help raise important funds for charities at the heart of our communities.
