As part of our series of skills webinars we recently ran a session on using the powerful link between our WoodEngine timber frame and PAMIR timber engineering software packages.

To encourage users to utilise the tools to their full potential we announced a competition during the webinar, and invited users to send us example jobs which demonstrated their use of the link.

There were a few criteria that the designs had to satisfy to be eligible to enter:

  • Walls designed in WoodEngine
  • Posi-Joist floor(s)
  • Roof Truss or Posi-Rafter roof

We received many brilliant entries, and it was great to see the creativity and skill of all the designers. The standard of models was exceptional, and really demonstrated the power of the integration between the MiTek packages in enabling accuracy and confidence in design. The full 3D BIM models generated are easy to share and can be viewed on any device, giving huge benefits to the whole supply chain.

Picking a winner was difficult, but our judging panel scored each entry on a number of areas including design complexity, design accuracy and design uniqueness to arrive at a winner.

Huge congratulations go to Marcin Sachs of Kinspan who was judged the winner for this very impressive entry.  The panel were particularly impressed by the unique nature of the design, and the level of detail Marcin had gone to in showing straps and bolts. The project utilised combined Posi-Joist and roof trusses with a clever timber frame solution to great effect for a complex bespoke build and all of the judging panel agreed that it was a very worthy winner.  Marcin won a gift voucher, just in time to spend over the Christmas break.

The standard of entries was exceptional, and we would like to thank and say well done to all the entrants.  You can view some of the other highly commended entries in our collection here.

Look out for further competitions and opportunities to demonstrate your work early in 2021.
